mrs dalloway meets joy luck club.
i went to my neighbour's wine and cheese advent event and it was wonderful.
i don't know, there is something about an older crowd that's more established, that has had grandkids and a career done and dealt with, that makes it easier to hang out with them.
you could just see all the different personalities play out in the room. and as one of the youngest spectators, you were at liberty to sit back, watch and enjoy the conversation around you.
and the conversation was NATURAL. not scripted, not cliched, not a fashionable phrase dropped from the latest tv show. just people who had been around and knew each other and felt comfortable with each other.
and i love that they advise us, they tease us and joke with us.
maybe i'm just waiting to get as comfortable with the world as they are

hehe, that's funny, last saturday I had a wine and cheese party sorta for my bday, it was really fun. I tried to get everyone to dress up and to bring a poem, but alas, not all followed through, although we did end up having really good conversations till 2am without watching a movie or playing games, just talking and eating and mellowing out over our wine...
