when good intentions aren't enough

the night before: i vowed to wake for my 8am class today. it was a class that i usually arrived late for (i have the habit of trying to sleep in until the last possible moment) and i have skipped a few sessions as well.
this time however, i vowed to show up since my own private mandate is that i never skip more than 3 classes of a course per year.

this morning: i awoke in a blurry haze, and mused to myself that it was surprisingly bright already before turning over in my bed.
the wheels in my head slowly turned. something clicked. "it was bright already???"
jumping out i reached for my phone to frantically check for the time
only to discover that my phone battery had died
and along with it my alarm.
