nature's mess

i relish the way nature strews its litter everywhere in the fall. the red, gold, orange and brown leaves are scattered over sidewalks. there's an audible crunch as you briskly transverse the landscape and when the wind blows, it catches up more leaves in its path and sends them scurrying across previously empty drab space.

i like the old buildings with the vines creeping up around their walls, the vines seem to adorn each gray concrete structure with a fiery feathered boa, that ruffle slightly when the wind, again, makes its passage through.

i actually enjoy the falling rain, the cool refreshment it brings, the relentless beat it brings against the ground as if it was drumming to its own rhythm.

i'm finding so much silence and solitude in the fiery, colourful and wild environment of fall.
maybe i want the world to slow down. to stop and stand still. maybe what i desperately want is solace and peace but in a world that simultaneously doesn't abandon life.

shhhhh. let's just be.
