whoa, are we over-doing it?

Stage 1 of the Downtown Line is a 4.3km stretch with six stations. It will be completed in 2013. Stage 3, spanning 19.1km with 15 stops, will be ready by 2016. Straits Times, on new MRT stations to be completed in the near future.

4.3 km with 6 stations... so the distance between each station is probably going to be about 700m.

i imagine the train starting and stopping every now and then with the distance between each station being so short!

then again, maybe the MRT is being set up to be the new bus system. it has a higher capacity and is possibly a greener option than our exhaust-sputtering buses.
and if you terminate some bus routes with the set up of new mrt lines, you definitely save some space on the roads

so are we over-doing it or not? maybe the test of time is to see how many people can still get to work on time in the cbd area during rush hour in the morning
