seems like i mostly think in black and white.

The WSJ ran an article talking about the degree of ambivalence in people and how that might affect their decision making process as well as the quality of their decisions.

while i don't think we ever want to box ourselves and characterise ourselves as "such and such", I always find articles like these useful in provoking some self-awareness, reflection and self-assessment. if anything, i find i am lacking in the following and certainly need to make my thinking process more mature if i ever want to excel in the field i'm in.

"Ambivalent people, on the other hand, tend to systematically evaluate all sides of an argument before coming to a decision. They scrutinize carefully the evidence that is presented to them, making lists of pros and cons, and rejecting overly simplified information"

i think this is a good habit to pursue if i'm ever going to get around to building and testing my own theories in the near future.

fingers still crossed on getting there.
