to san francisco and back
this is how we play it
10:20pm: arrived in san francisco after having suffered the longest two hour flight in my life.
(with the multiple delays and false starts, the two hour flight became a five hour flight. with the passengers on board having to spend about 45 min just circling in the air, unable to land.)
11am (next day): embarrassed my host by making him join me in sliding down this kiddy inflatable slide.
the afternoon: i half-biked, half-walked across san francisco bay area, and screamed at hong how that san francisco was overpopulated and wished that steph's ingenious suggestion of bringing back the dinosaurs to chew up some unnecessary humans, would come true.
"it's the air show lah. half these people are probably not from san francisco and they just turned up to watch the military show" --hong how, in an attempt to placate.
later in the afternoon: still wished people would get bloody out of the way. what you never see aeroplane before issit????
evening: off the ferry, biking back to the shop. finally no human traffic, just cars whizzing by at the side, but nothing in front to block the entire bike route
ate an in-and-out burger though i wondered at the choice of the franchise name.. childish toilet humour came to mind but i suppressed those thoughts.
soaked in the various sights, music and sounds from fisherman's wharf at night. feet tapping, hips swinging, i wanted to join them.
next day
fell utterly in love with berkeley, its colonial structures, its lolling green and open space. the library took my breath away and i swore its entrance, facade and interior resembled that of a museum.
watched the departed and felt that jack nicholson was the best part of the show and that was it.
in all, i enjoyed myself thoroughly in san francisco. it was a holiday, a retreat from life in vancouver and again, what i always appreciate, is not just someone playing host, but someone allowing me to enter into their lives even for just a bit and letting me get to know their other friends and people.
thank you hong how. it was a good thanksgiving.
