Google never fails to amaze me. And data visualization really blows my mind.

I remember talking to a guy doing his Phd in computer science and his focus was on the visualization of data. He showed me his work and different diagrams charting different intensities and levels of the data. Amazingly, bringing in different concepts of design really prompted a different message in my head even though it was the same dataset.

this may not be surprising since there are many ways to dissect and disaggregate a dataset even further to get out various trends, but what was amazing is that even for someone who was clueless about a particular field, these data mapping visuals were able to channel across the main point to a layman and show you simple trends.

Anyway, to tickle your curiosity, here's Google with its zeitgeist for Japan, Singapore and the US
Despite the uncertain economy here, it seems like the World Cup and Justin Bieber still managed to dominate everyone's minds.... (although apparently Jack Neo did manage to come a close second next to Bieber. Scandals will get you everywhere it seems)
