random conversations

on sharing an NBER paper with B...

B: I know this. These guys have done:

sex ratio and saving rates in China
sex ratio and crime in China
sex ratio and entrepreneurs in China
sex ratio and migration in China
sex ratio and export in China
sex ratio and blablabla...

You know, the world is driven by men desperately looking for women, biological purpose drives economic activities.

me: that's why we should all do behavioural and development economics lah. the world was built on desperate men, and women who were exasperated with them. see duflo, she sought to right the wrongs and restructure incentives!

something tells me i won't get away with teaching this at my econ 200-level class.
not that i intend to anyway :)
